　　《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)寫作學(xué)習(xí)指要》以在英美寫作教學(xué)研究界占據(jù)重要地位的結(jié)構(gòu)主義和認(rèn)知理論為依據(jù)，以英語(yǔ)說明文和英語(yǔ)論說文的寫作技巧為重點(diǎn)，以結(jié)合范文講解進(jìn)行寫作訓(xùn)練為主要方法，按照循序漸進(jìn)的原則編排。全書由三大部分組成。第一部分為英語(yǔ)說明文（Exposition）。該部分以段落寫作為起點(diǎn)，由學(xué)習(xí)段落的基本結(jié)構(gòu)開始，而后逐一介紹展開說明文段落的主要技巧，同時(shí)指導(dǎo)學(xué)生反復(fù)練習(xí)段落的寫作，最后在段落寫作的基礎(chǔ)上進(jìn)行各種技巧的短文寫作訓(xùn)練。第二部分為英語(yǔ)論說文（Argumentation）。該部分首先介紹如何構(gòu)思、準(zhǔn)備論說文的寫作，而后講授如何運(yùn)用描寫、敘述和說明的技巧展開論證，然后講解論說的技巧，并指導(dǎo)學(xué)生逐一運(yùn)用這些技巧練習(xí)寫作論說文，最后進(jìn)行各種目的的論說文的寫作訓(xùn)練。第三部分為研究論文（TheResearchPaper）。該部分包括論文的準(zhǔn)備階段、論文的寫作和論文寫作中引用文獻(xiàn)資料的兩種常用體例（MLA和APA）的詳盡介紹。
