　　本書為大學(xué)英語專業(yè)閱讀系列教材人文科學(xué)類第三冊，供大學(xué)英語四年級的學(xué)生第一學(xué)期使用。？？？第三冊共包括十個單元。每單元由課文、生詞、注釋、練習(xí)、閱讀文章一和閱讀文章二及其練習(xí)組成。？？？同第一、二冊一樣，第三冊的課文選材依次包括哲學(xué)、歷史學(xué)、倫理學(xué)、宗教學(xué)、語言學(xué)、美學(xué)、文藝學(xué)、文學(xué)理論、新聞學(xué)、文化學(xué)；同第一、二冊不同的是，一部分內(nèi)容涉及以上學(xué)科的較新研究領(lǐng)域，一部分涉及應(yīng)用；文章同樣多選自相關(guān)領(lǐng)域的名家名著。本冊同樣突出諸學(xué)科的共性，涉及人文學(xué)科學(xué)生必須掌握或了解的知識，力圖使本書的十個單元在一定程度上達(dá)到有機(jī)的統(tǒng)一。？？？課文生詞的釋義基本采用英、漢雙解形式，學(xué)生應(yīng)該參考這兩種釋義來理解課文。對非本專業(yè)的課文，學(xué)生更應(yīng)該參照這兩種釋義，以便對相關(guān)概念或詞匯的內(nèi)涵有較清楚的理解。生詞的選擇和釋義以國家教育部公布的《大學(xué)英語教學(xué)大綱通用詞匯表》中的四級詞匯為起點(diǎn) ，已經(jīng)在第一、二冊中列為生詞的詞匯本冊原則上不再重注。？？？課文的注釋主要包括有關(guān)背景知識和部分語言難點(diǎn)。？？？練習(xí)一旨在培養(yǎng)學(xué)生理解作者的主要觀點(diǎn)、歸納課文的主要內(nèi)容的能力。形式包括問答題、填充題和選擇題。練習(xí)二、三的目的是鞏固課文中所學(xué)的、并在專業(yè)閱讀中常用的詞匯和詞組的用法，使學(xué)生能積累一些常用詞匯和詞組；練習(xí)要求學(xué)生自己在文章中研究這些詞匯和詞組的用法，并據(jù)此在新的語句中使用，相應(yīng)地，練習(xí)二的語句內(nèi)容多涉及人文科學(xué) 內(nèi)容，練習(xí)三的內(nèi)容與其課文涉及的知識緊密相關(guān)。練習(xí)四為漢譯英練習(xí)，重點(diǎn)是課文中的一些重要句型和表達(dá)方式，目的是幫助學(xué)生為將來寫摘要、簡述、簡評等積累一些有用的表達(dá)方式。練習(xí)五為寫作練習(xí)，旨在培養(yǎng)學(xué)生用英語概括和分析課文內(nèi)容的能力。閱讀文章一、閱讀文章二供學(xué)生課下自學(xué)用。文章在題材上與課文基本屬于同一領(lǐng)域，但涉及的知識內(nèi)容更加具體，以達(dá)到鞏固課文內(nèi)容、進(jìn)一步擴(kuò)展和應(yīng)用知識的目的。閱讀文章體裁更加多樣化，除議論文和說明文以外，還包括書信、傳記、小說等。我們對文章涉及的背景知識進(jìn)行了注解，涉及到的生詞可以在書后附錄三的總詞匯表中查閱。文章后主要配有理解練習(xí)和翻譯練習(xí)。同時，教師也可以根據(jù)學(xué)生的專業(yè)情況，酌情使用這些文章作為課上講解內(nèi)容。書后有三個附錄。附錄一提供了每單元部分練習(xí)題的答案，屬于理解性練習(xí)的簡答題和填充題的答案則留給任課教師處理。附錄二是課文譯文，僅供參考。附錄三是總詞匯表，包括課文、閱讀文章一和閱讀文章二中出現(xiàn)的生詞和詞組。？？？最后需要說明的是，教師可根據(jù)學(xué)生的語言基礎(chǔ)、專業(yè)情況、教學(xué)進(jìn)度等對本書的內(nèi)容進(jìn)行靈活處理。
