　　我特別喜愛(ài)新聞?dòng)⒄Z(yǔ)。原因很簡(jiǎn)單：我是靠新聞?dòng)⒄Z(yǔ)起家的。從1947年到1958年，我在新華社翻譯部工作，歷時(shí)12年。這12年的工作為我后來(lái)的學(xué)術(shù)研究奠定了堅(jiān)實(shí)基礎(chǔ)。我撰寫《文學(xué)翻譯原理》、《英漢比較語(yǔ)法綱要》、《英語(yǔ)句型的動(dòng)態(tài)研究》等書，靠的就是那一時(shí)期的實(shí)踐經(jīng)驗(yàn)。我的經(jīng)歷說(shuō)明，學(xué)習(xí)新聞?dòng)⒄Z(yǔ)是學(xué)好英語(yǔ)的最有效的途徑之一。新聞?dòng)⒄Z(yǔ)生動(dòng)活潑地反映了各國(guó)人民日常的政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)和文化生活，是一種包羅萬(wàn)象的英語(yǔ)。其中既有政論英語(yǔ)，又有科技英語(yǔ)，既有法律英語(yǔ)，又有財(cái)貿(mào)金融英語(yǔ)等等。這些都是青年學(xué)生在改革開放的今天所迫切需要學(xué)習(xí)的東西。但是，新聞?dòng)⒄Z(yǔ)又有它自己的特殊寫作方法。初學(xué)者在閱讀新聞時(shí)，往往遇到很大困難。因此，需要有一部好的教科書，來(lái)指導(dǎo)青年學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)新聞?dòng)⒄Z(yǔ)。
