Joseph ORourke 美國(guó)馬薩諸塞州史密斯學(xué)院計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)系主任、數(shù)學(xué)系教授。自1980年從賓夕法尼亞大學(xué)獲得計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)專業(yè)博士學(xué)位以后,他就一直致力于該領(lǐng)域的教學(xué)與研究。研究方向主要為計(jì)算幾何,除了本書(shū)外,他還著有Art Gallery Theorems and Algorithms一書(shū),并與J.E.Goodman一起編寫(xiě)了1000頁(yè)的Handbook of Discrete and Computational Geonetry,此外,還發(fā)表了70多篇關(guān)于計(jì)算機(jī)幾何方面的論文以及為“計(jì)算機(jī)幾何專欄”寫(xiě)過(guò)30多篇文章,由于對(duì)該領(lǐng)域的卓越貢獻(xiàn),2001年他兒美國(guó)國(guó)家基金會(huì)來(lái)出教師獎(jiǎng)。
