　　本教材采用“基礎(chǔ)模塊+不同專業(yè)模塊”的編寫方式，全書分兩大部分，其中主體部分共包括基礎(chǔ)、結(jié)構(gòu)工程、巖土工程、道橋工程、水工與海洋工程、市政工程和環(huán)境工程七個(gè)模塊，基本涵蓋了土木建筑類的所有專業(yè)內(nèi)容，同時(shí)每個(gè)模塊中又按不同的Unit編寫。第一、第三、第五、第七章的Unit只含課文；第二、第四、第六章每個(gè)Unit包括課文和閱讀材料兩個(gè)部分，Text的文章為體現(xiàn)專業(yè)英語特征的非科普性文章，閱讀材料選材則注重趣味性和科普性。每篇文章均以側(cè)表的形式給出了相應(yīng)的專業(yè)詞匯注解，其中Text文章后面還對文中的疑難句進(jìn)行了分析注釋，并附有與課文內(nèi)容相關(guān)的適量習(xí)題以鞏固對課文的學(xué)習(xí)。此外本教材強(qiáng)調(diào)培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的實(shí)際應(yīng)用能力，因此除了按傳統(tǒng)的模式編寫外，在每個(gè)模塊的后面還加入了精心挑選的有關(guān)科技英語閱讀和寫作知識(shí)技能訓(xùn)練以培養(yǎng)學(xué)生實(shí)際應(yīng)用能力的內(nèi)容。教材后一部分為教學(xué)指南，教學(xué)指南部分給出了Text文章的全文譯文和部分習(xí)題的答案。<
