This book is compiled and edited by the China Committee of the International Irrigation and Drainage Commission. Recording the Chinese historical facts of water conservancy from the Xia and Shang Dynasties to 1949, the book exhibits the interconnection between water conservancy and the society and that between water conservancy and science/technology throughout the 5,000-year history and displays experiences and lessons that China has gained in utilization of water resources and remaking of Nature.
