　　本書是彼得·紐馬克教授的一部力作，1988年獲英國(guó)應(yīng)用語(yǔ)言學(xué)協(xié)會(huì)獎(jiǎng)，可作為翻譯教材和學(xué)習(xí)手冊(cè)，供本科及研究生學(xué)習(xí)使用。全書共分兩部分。第一部分全面探討了翻譯所涉及的話題和問(wèn)題：翻譯過(guò)程、文本分析、翻譯方法、篇章作為翻譯單位、翻譯程序、翻譯中的文化因素、格語(yǔ)法及成分分析法在翻譯中的運(yùn)用、隱語(yǔ)翻譯等等。本書還單獨(dú)辟出章節(jié)論述翻譯批評(píng)、科技翻譯、文學(xué)翻譯、譯文修改、交稿期限、翻譯測(cè)試以及參考書的使用等。此外，還有段落專門討論雙關(guān)語(yǔ)、方言及歧義的翻譯。本書的第二部分由13篇翻譯練習(xí)組成，旨在分別說(shuō)明如何從翻譯的角度分析文本、語(yǔ)義翻譯與交際翻譯的比較及翻譯批評(píng)等。本書也試圖讓讀者體味做難度大、挑戰(zhàn)性強(qiáng)的翻譯時(shí)感到的困惑、矛盾和最后的興奮與欣慰。

作者簡(jiǎn)介

　　彼得·紐馬克，曾任英國(guó)中倫敦理工學(xué)院語(yǔ)言學(xué)院院長(zhǎng)。自1977年始，任語(yǔ)言學(xué)院委員會(huì)主席。他在各地巡回講學(xué)，并在多家學(xué)術(shù)刊物，如Incorpated Linguist，Babel，F(xiàn)remdsprachen等上發(fā)表過(guò)論文；翻譯過(guò)關(guān)瑞士畫家克勒、德國(guó)畫家丟勒的書籍，并有著作論述法國(guó)的翻譯批評(píng)。
