作者簡介

　　阿瑟·柯南·道爾（1859-1930），英國小說家。1859年5月22日出生于愛丁堡，1858年獲愛丁堡大學醫(yī)學博士學位，而后至1891年一直行醫(yī)。1885年起，柯南道爾開始創(chuàng)作偵探小說《血字的研究》，并于1887年發(fā)表在《比頓圣誕年刊》上。1890年，柯南道爾出版其第二部小說《四個簽名》，借此一舉成名。次年，他棄醫(yī)從文，專事偵探小說的創(chuàng)作，陸續(xù)出版有系列福爾摩斯偵探小說：《波希米亞丑聞》、《紅發(fā)會》、《身份案》、《博斯科姆比溪谷秘案》、《五個橘核》、《巴斯克維爾的獵犬》等，不僅使其中主人公福爾摩斯成為家喻戶曉受人崇拜的英雄人物，現(xiàn)使偵探小說繼受倫·坡之后發(fā)展至巔峰。由此可說，柯南道爾是偵探小說的發(fā)揚光大者。在柯南道爾逝世之前，他曾將其偵探小說結集出版。1902年，柯南道爾被封為爵士。1917年以后，他開始從事世界性的神秘主義改革運動。1930年7月7日，柯南道爾逝于英國蘇塞克斯的克羅伯勒。
