Perhaps theinfluence of the Chinese civilization on the ancient society of mankind hasnot been fully unveiled, perhaps the obstruction of high mountains and vastoceans has prevented the spread of the impact that should have been felt, orperhaps the wars and natural disasters in the past several hundred years orone thousand years have annihilated those records. This time, however,we should not allow the spread of the Chinese civilization to be obstructedfor another time. With the support of modern science and technology, thevaluable experience of the reform and opening——up as well as the develop——ment in China should be shared by all mankind. If we failed to carefullysummarize this experience,we would be unworthy of the Chinese civiliza-tion with a history of five thousand years and be unworthy of our ances-tors.That would be my lifelong regret!
