Wu Zuguang, a leading dramatist and director from Wujin, Jiangsu Province, once studied at the Peking China - France University. After the founding of New China in 1949, he became playwright-director of the Central Film Bureau; playwright of the China Drama School Experimental Peking Opera Troupe, China Drama Research Institute, Playwright Office of the Ministry of Culture, and Beijing Peking Opera Theater; member of the Fourth Committee of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Standing Committee of the Third Committee; vice-chairman of the Fourth Committee of the China Theater Association, and member of the Fourth Committee of the China Writers Association. He was a member of the Fifth and Sixth CPPCC National Committees.Huang Zuolin was born in Tianjin. In 1925 he went to the UK to study business, and started to learn drama there. He once studied with George Bernard Shaw, the British drama master. In 1935 he returned to Britain with his wife Jin Yunzhi, and studied Shakespeare at King's College Cambridge. He also learned directing at the London Academy of Dramatic Art. During the nearly 60 years of his artistic career, he directed over 100 stage plays and films. In 1988 he was honored with a Lifetime Award for Directing and Rejuvenating Stage Plays by the China Stage Play Research Institute.Mei Shaowu, formerly known as Mei Baozhen and second son of Mei Lanfang, master of the art of Peking Opera, graduated from the Yenching University. He was member of the Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth CPPCC National Committees, honoary president of the China Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall and chairman of China Mei Lanfang Culture and Art Research Society, and successively cadre in the International Exchange Office of the National Library of China and research fellow of the Institute of the United States of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Mei Shaowu was also a famous translator of British and American literaure, critic, dramatist and writer. In 2004 he was given the honorary title of senior tranlator by the Translators Association of China.
