Copper Buddhist Horns
155 cm long, weighing 1,155 grams
copper
Presented by the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso to the Central People’s Government when he went to attend the 1st NPC in Beijing in 1954.
The Copper Horn, called Tongchin in Tibetan, is a pipe musical instrument normally used in grand Buddhist ceremonies. Each of these two long horns consists three parts: the upper two parts could stay within the lower one which is the thickest of the three. Each joint, the horn body and the horn mouth are decorated with gilded carved patterns. During the performance, its three parts can be fully extended. When playing it at a fixed place, the horn end is placed on a wooden frame. When playing it among an honor guard or at a non-regular occasion, it needs to be carried by one man on the shoulder, while another plays it behind him. Its tone is low and deep and dignified.
編輯短評:還記得電視里的那種前面有幾個(gè)人扛著,后面有人吹的大長號嗎?它可以收縮,收進(jìn)下端最粗的那一截,也足有3米高。不過從尺寸來看,文中所示是縮小版的長號。
